It's UNGA week!

Hi, it's Patrick here in New York. And it's one of my favorite times of the year as an international news journalist.

The UN General Assembly (UNGA) week is here. It's a jam-packed period full of compelling conversations and essential questions among people from around the world.

Over the years, I've covered the diplomatic gathering, tuned into UN Web TV to hear general debate speeches, followed analysis around UNGA-related topics.

Last year, I changed things up: I closed my computer to attend a bunch of UNGA sideline events. It was a great experience to learn about various issues among like-minded people in the global community.

I'm back this year. I'll be attending dialogues around funding aid, how to best cover climate change, the status of humanitarian action, work around pandemic preparedness and global public health, and much more.

But how does this relate to Conflict Journal? Conflict is a topic at UNGA. And so many of these issues touch upon conflict, war, and violence—or ignite conflict.

I'll treat this as my notepad to share what I find interesting and relevant for all of us who care about human beings across the world. And their safety and wellbeing.
